KR Morrow Art Setup at a local Art fair in Idaho

Karen's Story

Welcome!  my name is Karen and I am the artist here at KR Morrow Art, Art With An Attitude.

Weiser, Idaho is my home town and where I attended school until graduation in 1966. Went to Idaho State University and then to Boise State.

My family had a small cabin in McCall Idaho and that is where, every summer mom took my brother and me to McCall to spent our summers.  Dad was working most of the time in Weiser where he owned Ryder Ford Sales.  He would come up on the weekends and our little family enjoyed all of the joys of McCall.

Dad knew the McCall area intimately as that is where he grew up selling newspapers on the streets of McCall.  So he was our guide to the best places to hunt and fish and pick huckleberries..and taught us to waterski…well maybe it was mom who did that.

How we loved it!

Drawing came natural to me.  Mom always made sure I had pencils and paper to “scribble” on.  At some point I realized that painting was what I wanted to do.  But life has its way with us and sends little obstacles that can slow us down.. , it was not until later in life that I really buckled down, looked around and began to do art.

For some reason I have not been able to settle into one style, so as you look at my work you will see many different parts of me influenced by the amazing life I have had..  It is just fun to experiment with different types of medium, different types of surface. so much to choose from.  It is the “thing” that makes me feel alive.

I invite you into my gallery to check out some of my work.   Feel free to comment and drop me a note if you want.

Thanks for stopping by!

More about the Artist

As a child, Karen Morrow taught herself how to draw, and today, her favorite medium is still colored pencil and graphite. Karen is also very talented with oils, acrylics, watercolors and murals. From Karen: These past 50+ years, I have lived in interesting and unusual place, have had wonderful experiences, and have met wonderful people. These experiences have shaped me and influenced my artwork. My artwork has a realistic tone which lends itself to the Western Theme that often shows up in my work.My Mediums: charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic. Choosing the medium which makes the most sense for the work and message I hope to convey. I am so thankful that I am able to continue to do what I love with the hope that the viewer will find happiness here also. This picture entails the bond between a boy and his best friend. The feel of the countryside setting and the bond of these two captures the essence of childhood.
